I left Canada before I was even old enough to order a drink at the bar, not yet old enough to vote, but already chasing the dream of becoming one of the top blues guitar players. My first unforgettable adventure came during a surreal border crossing from Alberta into Montana in the middle of the night, riding with veteran Louisiana zydeco musicians whose bayou drawl made my prairie twang sound foreign. That was the beginning of my journey to learn blues guitar in the real world, far beyond beginners blues guitar lessons.

I spent years on the road as a blues guitar player with Little Mike and the Tornadoes—backing blues legends, carving out my sound, and sharing the stage with some of the best blues guitarists in the world. Along the way, I recorded at Electric Ladyland in New York, played under the live oaks of northern Florida, and performed blues lead guitar and blues rhythm guitar in bands across the dehesas of southern Spain.
